Mobile Network Operators in AJK and Gilgit Baltistan

Currently there are five active mobile network operators that are registered with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for providing mobile services (voice and data) across Pakistan. While the license of sixth one was canceled and is non-functional now.

All these are also eligible to provide services for AJK and Gilgit/ Baltistan area. However for this region there is one additional mobile network operator known as SCO (registered with PTA and allowed to operate).

Details: Special Communications Organization (SCO) is Government Organization operated by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and maintained by Pakistan Army. SCO is playing major role in providing telecommunication services in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Established in 1976, SCO has developed massive IT & Telecom infrastructure including laying of over 2500 kilometer Optical Fiber Cable network across the entire length and breadth of the area. Today, SCO stands the largest telecom network/ service provider equally focusing on urban and rural areas development. SCO is providing telecom services to both public and private sector (general populous) in AJK and GB region. It has a unique distinction of providing all brands of telecom services from voice to data under one platform.
