What's New?

While Android O has launched a day ago, the developer version was already available. It is expected that by September this year, phones with Android O will be in market. The first expected phone is a Google Pixel 2. Users now have the query on how to install the new OS and how to install or update the existing one, if possible.
Step by Step Guide on how to install Android Oreo: For all those who are interested to know how to install the Beta version, here is an easy step by step guide:
Step 1-Check your smart phone’s existing android software’s version:
- Go to the Settings app on your smartphone.
- Go directly to the bottom of the first page.
- Click on ‘About phone’ or if you have a tablet, then ‘About tablet’.
- Android O beta is out and available to be installed in Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel, or Pixel XL.
Step 2- Sign-in and agree:
- Open the Android beta link. It will ask you to sign-in with your Gmail account.
- Once you will sign-in, you will land up on the page where it shows how Android Beta Program works.
- This page also shows a section Your Eligible Devices that have all the phones listed that are linked to your signed-in Gmail account.
- Choose the device you want to install Android O and Enroll your Device.
- Agree to the terms and wait for the notification on your Android device that will say System Update is available.
Step 3- Check for updates:
- Click on ‘Get the latest Android updates’.
- As soon as you get an update notification, open it and click on the update action.
- If you cannot see this, your phone might be offline or you might have cleared the notifications. Go to the Settings app, scroll to the bottom and tap ‘About phone’ or ‘About tablet’ and then System updates. You will see your update status.
- Follow any on-screen steps.
- Most phones need a Wi-Fi connection to find or download an update. It is recommended to download updates over wi-fi as their sizes are quite large.
Step 4- Back up your device: As a precautionary measure, it’s good practice to back up your data such as contacts and photos. The upgrade shouldn’t affect your data but there are no guarantees.
Step 5- Install the update: Once the download is complete, you simply need to click install and follow the on-screen steps.
Your mobile phone will automatically reboot once the Android O installation is done. And that’s all. You are done with the update.
